Damper With A Twist Recipe

Another iconic camping recipe, with a little twist! Whether you are in a caravan park in your Bluewater Camper Trailer or camping out in some of the remote Australian outback, this recipe is sure to be a winner no matter what time of the day!

 

INGREDIENTS

450g self-raising flour

¼ Teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon mixed herbs

80g butter, diced

180ml Milk

100g cooked bacon bits

100g shredded cheese

 

DIRECTIONS

Mix flour, mixed herbs and salt in a bowl. Rub butter into the flour with fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs

Then add milk slowly until it forms a soft dough

Once dough has formed add cooked and cooled bacon bits and shredded cheese.

Knead on a floured board/surface until smooth.

Shape dough into a round loaf. Meanwhile spray foil with cooking spray and then wrap the dough in foil.

Place in the fire to bake for 30 minutes – you can test if it is done by tapping the top and it should sound hollow.

Slice up and enjoy with some butter or on its own warm.
